class descriptionsBeginners Our 6-week beginners course introduces the core figures and rhythms of Lindy Hop, including the basic 6 count, 8 count, and charleston based moves, together with concepts such as leading / following, frame, and listening to the music. Repetition and practice are the key, and most students do 2, 3, or 4 beginners blocks before moving up. Intermediate Intermediate continues to work on the basic principles, and introduces a wider repertoire of classic moves to enhance your social dancing. In order to move up to Intermediate you must have completed 2 beginners blocks or equivalent (preferably more) and must be comfortable freestyling a lindy turn, swing out, lindy circle and charleston. Intermediate / Advanced This kick-ass take-no-prisoners class will move your dancing to the next level with increased focus on lead/follow technique and improvisation - plus a bunch of cool new moves, of course. Entry is controlled, so you will be invited to move up when appropriate - so start impressing us on that dance floor! As Balboa is a technical dance and this is a mixed level class, we control entry - so please ask us when the next opportunity to join will be. |

special classes & workshopsIn addition to the traditional Savoy Style lindy hop which is our major focus, we aim to broaden your dance horizon by also teaching a number of different dances or styles that fall under the 'swing' umbrella: 1920's Charleston
