local auckland swing bands

In Auckland we are blessed with some amazing swing bands, so keep your eye on their websites or our whats up page for all their upcoming gigs.

tuxedo swing

Tuxedo Swing - a 10-piece swing sensation led by Brendon Packard and with vocals by the wonderful Lloyd Kyd and Jacquie Hudson - recreates the romance and rhythm of the big band era with some of New Zealand’s best known musicians and regularly plays to dance audiences throughout Auckland.

As well as one off gigs, Tuxedo Swing have joined forces with The Swing Station and the Juice Bar in Parnell to bring you Swing Junction the 3rd Sunday of every month from 6-9pm. At only $20 entry, and with a band of this quality at the trendiest venue in town, Swing Junction is an event not to be missed.

the queen city big band

The other best swing band in New Zealand (and the band that brought the house down at The Swing Station's inaugural Swing Ball), this 20 piece big band led by John Calleson features some of the best up and coming players in Auckland and the wonderful vocal talents of our very own Jennifer Neal (yes, THAT Jennifer!).

They occasionally play free gigs at local Auckland bars and festivals and LOVE to have a bunch of swing dancers to inspire them, so join our mail list to find out when, and get out and support them whenever you can.
